Kyoko Baertsoen

BIOGRAPHY

Kyoko Baertsoen (singer/composer) graduated with a degree in singing and German flute at the Music academy in Deinze.
Throughout the while of her studies, she lent her voice to a youth-choir and numerous marriage receptions while also performing as a solo German flute player.
After graduating as a television director, her first breakthrough led her to become the lead-singer of the band Hooverphonic with which she toured throughout Europe for three months.

Following this experience, she parted ways with Hooverphonic to become the composer as well as the lead-singer of Lunascape for several years (www.lunascape.net), a band that released in total 3 full albums.
Their most recent one (Innerside) also included 5 songs especially written for the Belgian TV-series, Flikken.

The largest profit was earned by the single “Tears from the moon” that Kyoko wrote in LA with Rick Nowels (Céline Dion, Kylie Minogue, Madonna) and Billie Steinberg (Madonna, Dido).

Covered by Sinead O’Connor, the song was used in “Lara Croft’s Tomb Raider” as well as a commercial for Dorna Mineral Water (coca-cola).
DJ Tiësto’s Remix of “Tears from the moon” earned him third place in the Billboard dance charts.
Kyoko also played a role in the 3-D IMAX movie “Haunted Castle” in which she sang the very enchanting Lunascape’s “Lane Navachi”.
The band was also asked to write the film score of another IMAX 3-D movie called “SOS Planet”.

In addition to Lunascape, Kyoko also wrote songs with Gert Bettens (K’s Choice), Wim Mertens and Sleepthief.
At the end of 2006, Kyoko participated in the VTM program “Just the two of us” as the singing coach of Belgian actor Guy Van Sande.

She performed in many clubs and festivals, like Dranouter, Marktrock, Beach-rock, and did many tv-shows like ‘the 7th day’ and ‘the latest show’.

Kyoko has with her unique timbre a very warm and sensitive voice that can be used in many genres.
Her big examples are all kinds of singers with a big personality and special timbre like Allison Goldfrapp, Annie Lennox, Julee Cruise, Lisa Gerrard and Sinead O’Connor.
Kyoko is now working on a solo-project with the help of Vincent Pierins and Patrick Hamilton.

Herbert Verhaeghe

This was the start of a very succesful story. She ended 2nd at Eurosong (when the last points came, Kate Ryan jumped over us and went to Greece...). ‘Wonderland’ was #4 in the Belgian charts.

Moxxie

Is a new Belgian project around Guy Balbaert and Vincent Pierins that tries to redefine dance music with left of center melodies, beats and lyrics.Moxxie remixed a lot of alternative bands such as Zornik,Headphone,....For the latest info on the life of Moxxie, just visit www.myspace.com/moxxiemusic

First album ‘Pleasure Delayer’ will be released very soon by MTC/PIAS.

"Pleasure Delayer" by MOXXIE

It's a tough cookie being a man these days. What do women really want and are we – poor miserable studs – able to provide them with the pleasure they're aiming for? And will we go for the fast macho approach with a poorly orchestrated big bang or do we tickle our senses with a different approach by trying to delay the greedy but rightfully anticipated pleasure? According to Moxxie's debut album, 'Pleasure Delayer', the last option seems to be the best move. The Belgian based duo Vincent Pierins and Guy Balbaert spent about 18 months of unconditional positive energy, tears and sweat in creating 11 songs that explore the boundaries of dark 'hard to get' love, genuine 'in love' love and sensual 'dance floor' love with an invitation to a more intimate bedroom. Tracks like the very melodic and richly orchestrated but danceable 'See Them Lose Control', the hypnotic 'Get It On' or the fat bass driven 'Got You (On My Side)' can be perfectly consumed by late night city clubbers while the title song refers to an early Depeche Mode after a wild sex night with Visage or Boy George. (Can you picture This?!) But there's much more than 'meets the ear' as the ambient or loungy arrangement of 'Midnight Music' or the pure and vulnerable pop of 'Whispering Tree' make it clear that the Moxxie clan hasn't lost its touch with pure pop music. Is it intelligent dance music with a healthy twist? Sure! Is it pop for the sinful soul looking for adventure or some kind of salvation? Absolutely! But first of all, it's just Moxxie with a 'Pleasure Delayer' eagerly waiting to find a suitable master.

Evi Hanssen
grew up with her 3 elder brothers near Antwerp but she soon felt that Antwerp was her “hometown”. After mid-school she went to jazzstudio. In April 2001 she started working as a VJ at The Music Factory (TMF). So she got a lot of experience in performing for camera, doing the presentation of big festivals like Marktrock, Suikerrock, TW Classic, I love techno,.... and taking interviews with e.a. Lenny Kravitz, Jim Kerr, Heather Nova, Justin Timberlake,...

In the summer of 2002 ,she was asked to replace Yasmine for “Aan tafel”, a program of the VRT. It was there she realized that singing was her passion.
